It’s not a normal dozen. It’s not a baker’s dozen. It’s a Zapf dozen. Yep. I made blueberry muffins from scratch. Followed the recipe religiously*. Whereas the recipe said the yield would be a full dozen (that’s 12), mine was a Zapf dozen (10).
*Reading this online recipe, which differs slightly from the one in the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook I have in my cupboard, I wonder if the fact I didn’t thaw the blueberries and that I used whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose white had something to do with the 2 missing muffins?
I tried muffins once & didn’t have much luck. And the missing 2 might have something to do with the whole wheat flour.
I like blueberry muffins. This makes me want to try them again, now that I have a muffin pan.
I’ve only made muffins once, but they’re a lot like banana bread, which I’ve made a few times. What went wrong? I know it’s important not to overmix – the batter has to be lumpy when you pour in it. Maybe you should try my BH&G recipe and see if it works for you. And see if it gives your a normal dozen or a Zapf dozen. 😛
My problem was I overmixed. And I used a mix, I didn’t make them from scratch. Incidentally, I’ve never made banana bread, since I’m not crazy about it, and my Josh is allergic to bananas. I love it when people offer us banana-nut bread… I say, well I don’t really like it, and Josh says, I’m allergic to bananas AND nuts, are you trying to kill me?!
Send me the recipe or post it & I’ll give it a try!
Whoops! I had thought I’d linked the recipe to the word “recipe” but apparently I messed that up. Let me know if it’s still not working b/c it’s working for me now. 😀
you are a disgrace to the zapf’s. i think you should call it a beth dozen.
You better be careful what you say, Shannon, or I may choose not to feed you this weekend. Such a shame… we have fudge.
I find that I always have to double the liquid amount when I use my whole wheat flour.
Oh, there is a yahoo group for tandem nursing at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tnl/ and yes, it’s perfectly safe to nurse 2 at a time – just consider moms that nurse twins – just be sure to eat and drink enough yourself.
