The soap scum. The hair. The rust. The hard-water buildup. And that’s just the sink. The mirror above has its own coating of grime thanks to the over-zealous splashing I give it every time I wash my face.
I used to clean it once a week. I would break out the bleach, the trusty scrubby pad, the Windex, and the rag. And I would donate more than my fair share of elbow grease to the sink-cleaning cause.
But no more.
My secret?
It involves a hand towel. And 30 seconds of my time.
Every night after I’m done with the sink, I wipe down the counter, mirror, and sink with a hand towel. I then put up a fresh hand towel, step back and admire my fresh, sparkling, clean sink.*
As a mommy of two (two and under), I find that I don’t have the 15 minutes it takes to deep clean a sink, even if it is only weekly. But 30 seconds at the end of the day? Totally doable.
*For best results, start with a clean sink!

Don’t forget to come back on Friday for a What I Believe post on babywearing! And you still have time to compose your own! See here for details.
I really like this idea… I could definitely do it, but… I wonder if I could convince my kids? Maybe the one who has to clean the sinks every week, at least… It’s worth a shot! Thanks for the shot in the arm!

My bathroom sink is really looking gross. I think I could handle this method. Thanks.
Hey, I’m willing to try this!
Thanks for the tip.
Great idea, will have to try it. Thanks!
I do this! I’m usually the last one to go to bed at night and the last one to have a shower in the morning so I give the basin a quick wipe over while I’m in there. Makes a difference timewise for sure!
It is amazing how some so quick and simple done daily can save us work later. I need to develop more of these type habits!
Good post! This is also a respectful thing that can be done at church when using the restroom. Take good care of Heavenly Father’s house by wiping around the sink and counter with your paper towel. Makes a difference for others who use it after you!
I don’t do this very often, but before I even read your post this morning, while getting ready for the day, I wiped down the bathroom. When I remember to do it, it does save a lot of time & worry!
I do the same thing with the potty (3 little boys + a potty training girl = stinks!).
Just wipe down the back and the dust collecting part with the bolts on the bottom and the seat with a wad of toilet paper and flush. Takes 15 seconds everyday, and my potty is always at least presentable.
Like milehimama, I do the toilet daily as well! I also wipe down a wall a day with a Magic Eraser before I step out of the shower–soap scum doesn’t have a chance!
It’s what I do, and it pays off.
No stains..
Simple and Sweet! Love it!
When I read your blog title I thought you were going to say: to never eat at home to keep the dishes away. Can you imagine….eating out every meal so there was no dishes?!! I guess that is my dream. 🙂 hee hee!

I just noticed on this “post” it says- BATHROOM…but on the rocks in my dryer…it doesn’t. hee hee!
good post!

LOL, sorry for the confusion, Amy. I tried to shorten the title for Mr. Linky, yet still make it attention-grabbing. I wasn’t trying to be deceptive!
Western Warmth – that is a good idea for public bathrooms!
You would really like the Fly lady. Look her up.
This totally seems doable and makes so much sense.
Thanks for sharing such a great tip.
bathroom sinks that are made from ceramics are always the best choice. they last longer and very strong,:~
