I usually go grocery shopping on Mondays. But last Monday was Labor Day. We were in Ohio visiting relatives. When we came home, we set up Olivia’s Big Girl Bed. No shopping.

On Tuesday, I had MOPS from 9:15-11:30, and that’s really the only time of day I can go shopping.

Wednesday was Bible study from 9:15-11:30. I may have over-committed myself somewhat here.

I was planning on going grocery shopping on Thursday. But then the brakes on the car starting making this horrible clunking, scratching, dying noise.

The car is still at Car-X until 5:30 on Friday.

Saturday – Oh my goodness, how did we make it through the week?

Leftovers, creativity, and rationing.

I won’t bore you with the full menu. But I will share with you my proudest, most creative moment of the week.

It’s the Best. White Sauce. Ever.

Ingredients:
2 Tbs butter
2 Cloves minced garlic
2 Tbs flour
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp dried basil
1/4 tsp salt
Dash of black pepper
1-1/2 cups milk

Directions:
Melt butter in a sauce pan (small). Cook garlic for 30 seconds in melted butter.

Turn heat to LOW. Mix flour, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper in to garlic/butter mixture. Stir until evenly combined.

After lumps are gone, slowly add milk, stirring constantly with wooden spoon.

Cook and stir over MEDIUM heat until thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir for one minute more.

This is excellent served over chicken and spaghetti noodles. It was more like a gourmet meal than something I scrounged in the cupboards to concoct!
