I wake up before the sun. I put in a load of laundry. I hop in the shower as soon as the washer is done filling. By the time I’m done drying my hair, the laundry is ready to be hung on the line.
Olivia wakes up (it’s around 9:00 by now) and I change her, dress her, feed her, and do her hair.
Benjamin wakes up. I change him, dress him, feed him.
Olivia needs a diaper change.
It’s 10:00 at least by now.
I grab the shopping list I had printed out last night, the big blue cooler, the library movies, the water jugs, the diaper bags, the pay check, the garbage, and the children.
Benjamin needs a diaper change.
It’s 10:30.
We head out.
First to the bank. Then Aldis (where Olivia feasts on crackers). Then the library (where nurse Benjamin). Then CVS (where I change Olivia). Then Walgreen’s (where I nurse Benjamin). Then Kroger’s (where I change Benjamin).
It’s 2:30 pm.
I arrive home. I unload the car.
It’s 3:00.
I put the cold groceries away.
It’s 3:30.
I change Olivia and put her down.
I change Benjamin and put him down.
It’s 4:30.
I put the pantry groceries away.
It’s 5:00
I start supper.
Josh comes home at 6:15
After supper, the kitchen looks like this:
My husband (a true gift from God) does the dishes.
I am on the couch with my feet up, watching I Love Lucy, and nursing a baby.
your husband does the dishes??!! WOW! mine never does that. He plays with Lexi while I do the dishes though.
Holy smokes. I think working is easier than the schedule you have. 🙂 My husband does the dishes as well. It’s wonderful. He feels that since we are both working (plus, I have homework duty) it’s only fair that he does them since I cook. Plus, as long as I sort (I put alot of it away too) he does the laundry. 🙂
BTW..your kitchen looks like mine after dinner.
So why can’t you fit blogging in????
J/K
Sounds like a rush. It won’t be that way forever though. Just wait until they’re teenagers!!!
I’ve seen my kitchen looking like that, too! In fact, I came home from getting the car washed and going to the library tonight and it looked pretty bad. I cleaned it while Amigo (blind teen) listened to his new book on CD.
Jes – When he’s not doing the dishes he is usually playing with Olivia and Benjamin. He’s never just sitting idly by – that’s for sure!
Moogie – I agree! I had an easier day back when I was teaching three-year-olds! However, that’s just one day out of the week. 🙂 And during our first couple years of marriage, my husband and I tried to split up the chores evenly, too. However, it was a source of never-ending frustration because the little things that bothered me (having clean underwear… and a living room floor) never bothered him! So I was stuck doing laundry and picking up because he was blind to those chores. 🙂 But he made his fair share of dinners. He knew the importance of food! (And I’m glad I’m not the only one with a disastrous kitchen!)
Bonnie – Ha. 🙂 And I hear adolescence is just a joy.
Daisy – Again – Glad to have a fellow slob among us! I’d be too depressed to blog anymore if you were all neat freaks appalled at the state of my kitchen!
