You most likely have outlet covers in your home. They are one of the first purchases you make when your baby proves ambulatory. They come in handy when curious little hands come exploring.
But! What do you do when the outlet is being used? This has proven a bigger concern than an empty exposed outlet at our house. Especially if the cord hanging from the outlet has a tag on it.
Oh! The tags. Why do babies think they can eat tags?
Introducing… the Safety 1st Double-Touch Plug ‘N Outlet Cover (and, no, I’m not being paid to say this)! Simply replace the original cover-plate with the one provided, plug in your electronic equipment, wrap excess cord around (this feature is nice – elimates tags along with possible strangulation temptation), and clip the cover into place.
I’m not sure my baby would still be alive today if not for this nifty invention. So I thought I’d share it with you.
WOW Beth, I have never seen such things, that is what I need. Scout loves to pull cords out of the wall. I do not need the ones to keep her from putting things in the sockets, unless it is what she has pulled out, chewed on and then sees me coming and wants to get it back!!!
We have some of these and we still use them even though my youngest “baby” is now 6. I love them.
ohh! i had seen those and forgot all about them. Do you think they would go over one of those big square kinda like AC adapters? Do you know what I’m talking about? We always make sure there is a chair or something covering a used outlet. I had forgotten all about those. thanks!
These are great! It doubles as a learning toy–my son would sit in front of the outlet for ten minutes at a time trying to figure out how to get into the box. He’d examine it from every side, poke it with a toy—he looked like a little monkey!
You can also use one of those covers to make a childproof night light. I have pictures of the one I made here:

Sorry, the link got messed up in that last comment. The pictures start here: http://picasaweb.google.com/abigailpod/October2007/photo#5118271233576714002
We have these too and they’re great. We use them in our kids rooms so that they don’t play with the plugs.
Love your clothesline header – I think I might have commented on it before, but hey, I’m getting old and it deserves a second comment then. 🙂
Wow! I’ve never seen covers like that before. I wish I had some when mine were a bit younger, they were always unplugging things. 🙂
