She refused to go down for naptime listening to the traditional Baby Einstein lullaby CD.
She wanted Christmas music.
At first she wanted to nap with my cell phone. (I had just uploaded Christmas music – you know, so I’d be prepared. Not that I was going to LISTEN to it. Not yet. Oh no.) Well, she heard Bing Crosby belting White Christmas and it was all over from there.
I figured this is one of those “battles” that you just have to give into. So I got the CD, I blew the dust of the Lullaby cover and retired it for the season.
*Sigh*
Is anyone else out there listening to Christmas music already? Do you have rules for such seasonal prematurity? I like to wait until after Thanksgiving. So much for that.
Wanting to listen, but fighting the urge for at least another week. We will be leaving for Michigan next week and at that time I will allow myself to be swooned. Not a moment sooner. Nope. Unless it’s Bing. ‘Cause Bing melts my buttah. Apparently he melts Olivia as well! :o)
HA HA! that is one of my HUGEST pet peeves. I can’t stand it when people listen to Christmas music before thanksgiving. It even annoys me when on Thanksgiving day or the day after all the Christian stations only play Christmas music.
I know all that is strange coming from someone who wants her Christmas tree up the day after thanksgiving. But for some reason I just can’t stand Christmas music. I few songs here or there are okay, but a whole month and a half of it? no thanks.
Two nights ago I uploaded about 7 Christmas CD’s onto my computer, and I was listening to Stephen Curtis Chapman’s “Music of Christmas” as I read your post! I like to wait to pull out the Christmas music and decorations until after Thanksgiving, but I caved in early this year on the music.
As far as I’m concerned, Christmas music starts on November 1st and goes right on through New Year’s Day. I loooove Christmas music and since I can only listen to it for such a short time every year, I like to make the most of it.
And that’s funny for me since I can’t stand how Christmas stuff springs up in stores even before Halloween.
In the D.R., the Christmas season just started, since there’s no Thanksgiving here. So, just pretend your daughter is being “cross-cultural.” 🙂
