*Batter will be lumpy. Lumps will disappear when the batter cooks. It’s hard to believe, but it really does work. Promise.
Each batch serves six. There are five batches in this bulk recipe.
I don’t have the means to compare, but I’m guessing this is cheaper than Bisquick (correct me if I’m wrong). I do know for sure, however, that it’s healthier, as it is half whole wheat flour.
And yes, this is the mix that Hillary will be receiving – for those of you who wanted the recipe to the various baking mixes that I was giving away.
(And, tip: I put clear tape down on that plastic container before writing on it in permanent marker.)
Ooooo girl! That is so great it is beyond words! Bisquick also has partially hydrogenated oils and I couldn’t partially hydrogenate and oil if my life depended on it. That’s a good thing.
Putting this on my list of things of “must – do” for this week!
Good post!
Can you use your Bisquick for whatever you use Bisquick for…like make dumplings or shortcake?
Can this be used for waffles? What other recipes can be used with this mix. Thanks for posting this, I have always wanted to find a healthier alternative to bisquick!
Gift and Andrea – I’ll have to try that out! I’m sure I’d have to modify it somehow. I’ll have to see what Bisquick says to add to make it a waffle mix. Maybe it’ll be the same with mine. And if you find out before me, let me know!
Sounds great, and since I don’t have access to Bisquick, great to have a recipe. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing this recipe. :o)
This is great. I never thought you could make a Bisquick without shortening, that is why I never used it. Thans so much.
This recipe sounds great! Can I use this homeade bisquick mixture to add to my quiche recipe? My quiche requires 1 cup of bisquick mix.
The reason I am looking to substitute: After my husband brought a box of bisquick home and I read the ingredients, I was horrified! It has trans fat in it. Yuck! I dont want to feed this to my pregnant belly or to my 15 month old daughter.
I also read your article on co sleeping. I couldnt agree with you more! Please respond about my bisquick/quiche query. Thanks!!
Hi everyone,
Bisquick now makes another one called Heart Healthy Bisquick. It is made with canola oil instead of trans fatty shortening but it does not contain whole wheat flour, unfortunately. Any version should be put in the refrigerator or freezer once opened. Good luck!

We absolutely love your blog and find a lot of your post’s to be just
what I’m looking for. Would you offer guest writers to write content in your case?
I wouldn’t mind composing a post or elaborating on a number of the subjects you write
related to here. Again, awesome weblog!
