One of my very bestest friends who lives hundreds of miles away is having a BIRTHDAY TODAY! Go wish Jes a happy 21st (mm-hmm… we’re not old enough to be lying about our age yet. Tsk, tsk.).
How did I meet Jes, you ask? Well, we went to Grace College together. I attended for one year before transferring to Taylor University. She attended for two years before getting married. We only had one short year to get to know each other, way back in 2000.
Who would have thought we’d still be best friends? We even created our own term of endearment to explain our relationship. “Loke”. We “loke” each other. It’s more than Like and more than Love. It’s Loke.
To give you an idea of Jes‘s personality, I’ll explain with as much detail as I can (and that’s not much) one of the first memories I have with her. It involved a water fountain. A water fountain named George. Every time we left chapel, we got a drink from a water fountain named George. There. That’s as much detail as I can give. Sad, isn’t it?
It’s okay, one day we will live in matching mansions next door to each other. And I will ice-skate out to my mailbox and greet her. (That’s another memory – I think I’m out now.)
Happy Birthday, Jes! Can’t wait til we’re neighbors (It will happen.)! I miss and LOKE you!
I don’t think your stories make sense, except to say that you two have inside jokes. 😉 I for one am glad you left Grace to come to Taylor. Though I think Jes should have come to visit you more often do I could have gotten to know her in person!
And by the way, weren’t you supposed to live next door to ME? Is Jes living on the other side, or are you abandoning me? I think since both of us live in the southeast, you have to move here too.
I loke you Beth!!! Thanks!
