This past weekend was filled with shopping.  And shopping.  And more shopping.  And a haircut.  Times four.  And yet more shopping.  And my mommy came with my TABLE!  I would take a picture to show you, but I’m still working (that is, I’m working – my pathetic internet provider is most definitely NOT working) on uploading Thanksgiving pictures.

But anyway, the point was that we were crazy busy with the shopping.  Shopping for Christmas presents, mostly.  (By the way, how come no one ever warned me how much FUN it is to shop for your children?  And how ADDICTING it is.  And how EASY it is to spend way too much money?  And how HARD it is to wait until Christmas to let them open those presents?)  But interspersed in the toy-shopping was some shopping for necessary clothing items for an upcoming wedding.

Which brings me to another point I wanted to make in this post.  (I love posts with points.  Pointy Posts.)  The Wedding Point.  We have two weddings and a reception to attend in the next two weeks, both in states we happen to NOT reside in.  I love these people.  I will have a blast while there.  I would not miss these weddings for the world.  However… driving the combined 29 hours to get to two weddings and a reception with two children two and under is not part of the joy.  It is not part of the fun.  It is neither joyful nor fun.  Just so you know.

We will be loaded up with Veggie Tales, graham crackers, cheerios, chocolate chips, marshmallows, and more toys than our car should legally be allowed to hold.  Really, the only real qualm I have about the upcoming journey is the fact that Benjamin is still in the rear-facing position.  The poor boy cannot watch movies.  And I do not trust him to eat in a moving vehicle when I cannot be watching him to make sure he’s not choking.

Which means I will spend more time that I care to think about crammed between two overly-large carseats in a the back of a sedan.  Feeding snacks to a fussy baby and holding a monitor so that he can enjoy Veggie Tales as he dines.  (Our car does not have seat rests on the back seats or else I could have easily attached said monitor in a way that he could partake in the movie-watching.  Obviously Ford was not thinking about portable DVD players back in 1998.  Sheesh.)

So this past weekend was Shopping Weekend.  Next weekend will be Tennessee Weekend.  The following will be Illinois Weekend.  Followed by Ahhh-A-Weekend-At-Home Weekend.  And we shall end the craziness with Ohio Weekend the very next week.

Any and all tips on keeping a rear-facing, non-bottle-taking baby happy on long car rides would be greatly appreciated.
