Oh, my goodness, there are two of them.
Two places to set, two bibs to bear,
Two cups to fill, two dinners to wear.
Oh, my goodness, there are two of them.
Two times the laundry, two times the dipes,
Two times the wiggly, little bottoms to wipe.
Oh, my goodness, there are two of them.
Two who can move at their will (against mine),
Two who adore putting toes ‘cross the line.
Oh, my goodness, there are two of them.
Two sets of eyes that study my moves,
Two little lives with so much to lose.
Oh, my goodness, there are two of them.
Two spirits to teach, pray for, and train,
Two precious lives with so much to gain.
Oh, my Lord, there are two of them.
You know my heart, my secrets, my fears,
You know what I do and don’t bring to your ears.
You know I cannot do this alone,
So I humble myself, here at Your throne.
Give me the wisdom, the strength, and the Love
That can only come from from Your arms above.
Because…
Oh, my goodness, there are TWO of them.
My first thought after reading this: Is this Beth’s way of announcing she’s pregnant with twins? 😉
You’re doing great with the two you’ve got!
You WROTE that, Beth? I LOVE it! It made me cry!
I have four of them!!
Great poem. I’d just change that to three! And then the Oh, My Goodness to bold and ALL CAPS 🙂
