When you own a bread machine, making your own bread can be a very simple task.
But, you know, I’m all about making it easier.
So I started making my bread mixes in advance:
Here’s how it works:
Each bag contains all the dry ingredients (flour, oats, dry milk, salt), everything but the yeast.
Throw the bags in the fridge.
The next time you need to make bread, simply place the wet ingredients in the machine, dump in the bag, add the yeast and butter and you’re done!
Did you say easy? Oh I love easy – easy works for me. Thanks for sharing this – I’ll try it 🙂
This is a terrific tip thanks. I’m compiling a list of links for Speed linking and this will be on it.

What a great idea! I don’t have a bread machine but I love the concept. I make pancakes often for dh and it would be a HUGE time saver to have the dry ingredients all ready to go in bags.
Thanks for sharing.

That is SUCH a good idea! Especially with litle ones, bread making can be really challenging. Love it.
I do this with bread, pizza dough mix, breadsticks and baked oatmeal mix. Check out my blog under the topic homemaking or cooking for many of my time saving kitchen tips.
Great share.
I also make a premade dry cake mix as well.
You are SO a girl after my own heart! 🙂 I’m glad other people do the same things, cause my husband thinks I’m a bit nutty sometimes. I usually spend one nap time a month bagging up all my bread and pancake mixes. I have found though that the bread turns out better if I thaw it to room temp before mixing in the wet stuff. I do need to do this again (I’ve been lazy) so thanks for the reminder!
Oh, I love this idea! Thanks! 🙂
You are brilliant; I love this idea!
I used to do this when I had a working bread machine. It died, and I never replaced it. But I recently bought yeast with the idea of making it from scratch (with the help of my Kitchenaid, LOL). Thanks for reminding me how much easier it is when you have your dry ingredients mixed ahead of time!
Great idea!
I do this for my bread and also for cornbread. I have found that I keep a constant supply of fresh baked bread in the house when I have “mixes” to use.
Thanks for posting your recipe. I am going to try it out this week. 🙂
good idea. i have thought about doing this a few times but haven’t yet found a recipe I’m ready to commit too. Maybe soon though. 🙂
This is brilliant! I’m convinced! I’ll be bookmarking your blog for sure!
