First order of business, I think it’s high time someone started a blog-roll for the Wives Of Perpetual Students. So I’m taking it upon myself to do so. We’ll call ourselves the WOPS, or maybe WOPSters. We’ll make a cute little button for our sidebars and so we can be connected. Most importantly, we’ll be able to see how the others are surviving in this world ruled by frugality and final exams.
ETA: I did it! Check out the side bar! Click on the pretty graphic! (Courtesy of drumbyfaith). Join my little club!
Second, I’ve been itching to try some new recipes, and also to share some of our favorites. And since I love me some class participation, I thought I’d make it a carnival. I’d call it … The Great Recipe Swap… for lack of any creative brainstorms.
(Benjamin hasn’t been sleeping well. Those durn antibiotics are still working their way out of his system – he needs about three diaper changes each night!)
Regardless of the bland name, I have great plans for The Great Recipe Swap. There shall be a swap for each of the following and then some:
- Snacks (the healthy)
- Snacks (the unhealthy)
- Dinners (el cheapo)
- Dinners (fancy schmancy)
- Dinners (family favorites)
- Desserts
- Crock pot favorites
Anyone interested? I was thinking about starting next Thursday. Too soon? Not soon enough?
And one more thing. I have been meaning to tell you this for awhile. Your comments mean the world to me. Next to Jesus and my family. Having said that, if I do not respond, via comment or email, it is not because I don’t love you. It is most likely because I was reading it while nursing. Or as I was standing at the computer folding towels. Or as I was trying to convince a toddler to give me back the mouse. Please, please, keep commenting. You make me feel special. 🙂
And that shall conclude my Slew Of Bloggy Ideas.
I found your site through Biblical Womanhood’s Frugal Fridays and liked it so much that I visit it on more than just Fridays. I don’t have a blog (The book-lover in me has finally allowed me to read blogs, but writing one? I’m just not there.), but, anyway, I’m a fellow WOPS—he’s in his second year out of five. We don’t have children yet, so I work, but I’m storing up your great ideas. Oh, and I love your recipes. While my husband occasionally needs candy or cheesy, gooey anythings to help him study, I don’t eat sugar (health issues), and my husband eats a lot healthier than he thinks, as I hide vegetables in everything. So, thank you! You have adorable children, too.
The recipe swap idea is great…I would definitley participate!
I WAS a WOPS but for the past 6 years I guess I’ve been a WOFGPS (wife of a finally graduated professional student!) 🙂 BUT, living in Metro-DC on just one income sure does make you feel like you’re living on a student-income! 🙂 Still have no blog myself, but looking forward to reading everyones recipes. Such great bloggy ideas! 🙂
Recipes are good. I like recipes. Especially those that do not involve “cream of something soup.”
I hear you on the WOPS. We’re on our last year of undergrad, looking at two years of a master’s, and then four for a PhD. We’ve been married three years and have a 15-month-old boy.
But some day, we will have a REAL SALARY! And BENEFITS! And there will be REJOICING!
I love the recipe swap idea 🙂 I’ll definitely participate!
Beth! I would love to be involved in a crock-pot swap! I live by the crock pot! 😉
Recipes sound good! Also, When my first husband and I married it was between his sophomore and junior year in college. We then had college to finish and 5 years in seminary. I felt like you do now. Hang in there. Believe it or not, these were good years when we looked back. The struggles in the first church and then in others as well sometimes made us want those years back. Lessons learned now will be with you for life. Learn them while you can!
Um……you’re awesome! Just joined up on the WOPS and going to do the recipe swap too!
