Since I last posted about preparing for my babymoon (love that term!), I’ve slowly been adding to the stockpile.
6 honey oat bread mixes
3 pizza dough mixes
3 cornbread mixes
2 gallon baggies of muffins
1 gallon bag of waffles
And also:
1 pork roast
1 chuck roast
1 ham
1 gallon baggy of pork chops
3 quart baggies of cubed ham
1 ham bone awaiting our next split pea soup night
3 baggies (1lb ea) of cooked ground beef
a gazillion containers of chicken stock. Can I sell that on Craigslist?!
lots of cooked chicken as well
50lbs of whole wheat flour
Um, yeah, our freezer is a tad full:
And also, I thought I would illustrate the easiness of preparing baking mixes. When I make a loaf of bread, for example, I also get out 3 large cups and 3 quart baggies. I line the cups with the baggies and then do an assembly line!
Done!
Wow are you prepared! I’d like to do some stocking up to for this one; I think we’ll have to buy an extra freezer (we’ve been talking about doing that for a while anyway). Since I haven’t been reading blogs on a regular basis the past few weeks, being on vacation and all, what did you decide about where to have your baby? I hope I get to meet this one too!
YAY! full freezer. and just think, when you need to get all that stuff you wont have a baby bump between you and the freezer! (instead you’ll have a newborn in the sling, probably attached to your um.. you know.he he )
so smart. i’d love a big freezer too! where do you buy whole wheat flour in bulk/how much do you pay per pound??
Amanda – this was the first time I’ve bought it in bulk like that. I went to visit my mom and they have a membership with Sam’s Club, so I went along to see what all they had to offer. I saw 50lb whole wheat flour for $15 and 25lb of bread flour for $8 and here I am!! The bread flour is still in the bag leaning up against the side of the fridge – I have no CLUE where to put it. I need to do something with it quickly, before the moths and mice find it!
Wow, I am inspired! Maybe you’ve done this before & I just don’t know, but have you ever put any of these mix recipes up on the site for us? That honey oat bread (and others) sounds good! 🙂
