Hi.
[flex]
You may have noticed me.
[flex]
I mean, I’m getting pretty big.
[flex]
Well, I’d just like to address something. I know what time it is.
[flex]
And it is NOT for any lack of strength that this baby has not come yet.
[flex]
I mean, it takes two for a baby to come, you knew that, right? If it were just up to me, I would have shot this thing out weeks ago. I have the capabilities.
[flex]
Not to brag or anything, but I’m pretty buff.
[flex]
Like, when I go to the gym, the other uteri can’t help but gawk. And then slink out quietly, embarrassed and unwilling to work out with such an intimidating force overshadowing them.
[flex]
And I’ve worked hard to get where I am today. Special diets, special drinks, lots of exercise.
[flex]
And all in preparation for the big event. The metaphorical marathon. I’m ready.
[flex]
Just wanted you to know.

The above message was an attempt to humorously explain and personify the constant braxton hicks contractions. Just in case you didn’t get it.
LOL!! I GET you. I totally GET you.
I had Braxton Hicks contractions starting for the last 6 weeks with my first. Every 5 minutes. {flex} Like clockwork. {flex} Not painful, per say, but really strong. {FLEX.} So the doctors, paranoid about premature labor {flex}, put me on bedrest. {flex}. For the last. Six. Weeks.
It seemed that resting would encourage a rest. But any kind of walking and activity brought them on. For hours at a time.
{flex}
With #2, it started at six months.
With #3, it started at 19 weeks. My doctor told me I was crazy. But then when they kept going, every day, for hours at a time…he told me I have an irritable uterus.
“Huh. You don’t say.”
I suppose this will make sense to me in a few months. 😉 Right now I’m kinda like, “Huh?”
YAY! I love Braxton-Hicks. It’s like exercise without me having to participate.
I think right now your uterus is the biggest muscle in your body (is it a muscle? I think it is anyway).
You CRACK me up!!! You really do!!! LOL! Was totally having a flashback moment while reading… It’s not my favorite memory of pregnancy but hey I’ll take it! 😉
I just had to say I love this. So true, so true.
Ugh. I had braxton hicks that I could feel (like mild menstural cramps) for a few weeks before my due date too. I was so happy to think that my body was working for me before labor. Boy was I naive! SIX HOURS into real labor, my midwife checked me and I was at 0 (50% effaced)! 30 hours after that, we went to the hospital for pitocin because I was still at 5! I am praying that my body has learned how to do things now and will handle the next one VERY differently. So glad that you have had better experiences and will likely have a nice fast labor. : )
I’m getting so sick of the Braxton Hicks already! I figure I’m not sleeping with the baby IN there and I won’t sleep with her OUT, so let’s just come out already!
So funny.
My uterus and your uterus could get together and have a flex-off (although I’m only 30 weeks right now, so HOPEFULLY yours would win).
Oh, the joys of braxton-hicks…
Can’t wait to hear about the arrival of your littlest one!!!
