Okay, so it’s realllllly hard to find time to type with two hands. It’s 12:30am. Spent the whole day nursing and potty training. And grocery shopping. And tomorrow I’ll be making a German chocolate cake and (hopefully) some birthday presents for my husband. So this is it. The only blogging time I have. And I’ve decided I’ll just quit and hit “publish” as soon as the baby cries, so if I stop mid-sentence, well, that’s why.
So last Saturday, Olivia was a flower girl! It was her third time and by far her best performance. She did WONDERFULLY. Smiled at all cameras, became BFF with the bride, danced the night away at the reception…
The day began at the hair salon. This was not Olivia’s first experience with a curling iron. Nay, ’twas her second. Her first was for Uncle Noah’s wedding, when Great-Aunt Martha put a few curls in. Nothing fancy then; Olivia was just two at the time.
But THIS TIME, my GOODNESS, look OUT.
Waiting her turn. Look at that long, straight hair.
I kept taking her picture to encourage her and give her updates on the progress. It took an hour to do her hair! She behaved exceptionally well for… most of it. 🙂
Then it was off to the hotel to sit for an hour before heading out to the church. That’s right, at least an hour and a half and two car-rides later… her hair still looked perfect! The credit goes to an extremely obedient four-year-(and-one-day)-old who didn’t move her head at ALL in the carseat. Oh, and hairspray. Lots of hairspray.
Once at the church, we had to wait a bit for the rest of the bridal party to be done with their pictures. So I took my own:
I love this shot. So stereotypical. Girl: Whee, look at my new shoes! Boy: Are we DONE yet?
Playing with Lightning McQueen.
Posing for Mommy. (“Smell the purple flower, honey… that’s right” *click* *click* *click*)
And then, finally, Olivia meets the BRIDE. And oh my GOODNESS, she has a new best friend. It made her DAY to see such a beautiful woman dressed in a real-live Princess Dress. It was like her own personal, life-sized Wedding Barbie. Everywhere Amanda (the bride) went, Olivia went. They were hand-in-hand for most of the day!
Amanda applied some faux-mascara (it never really touched her lashes, hehe!) when Olivia requested some after seeing Amanda put some on herself.
Walking through the halls to get pictures taken.
Waiting her turn and performing the all-important task of holding the bride’s purse. She loved that purse. It was just like her Barbie’s purse, only bigger!
There’s Olivia with Amanda, Benjamin (the groom), and the ring-bearer.
There was a no-flash rule and horrible lighting in the aisles, so this is the best I was able to get with my camera. 🙁 But she did AMAZING. Dropped the petals at regular intervals and was careful to “sprinkle” them instead of dump them all in piles. Seriously, I had people afterward tell me they should take the video of Olivia and use it to teach other flowergirls!
Proof that Levi was there, too. He crashed in the arms of a groomsman.
Olivia, however, was just livening up.
Showing the bride her shoes. She loves those shoes.
More pictures after the dinner. Olivia got her own little parasol! It was smaller and purple. She loved it.
Then Olivia saw the BRIDE’S parasol. It had FLOWERS on it. She LOVED LOVED LOVED that one. So Amanda let her borrow it. She immediately started twirling it around, attacking the bridesmaid’s faces. The photographer had to step in to save the day.
(The mother, meanwhile, stayed back to take pictures.)
What a doll! My oldest has been a flower girl three times, too. What fun. 🙂
She did a great job, and she’s beautiful! I can’t believe she sat still for an hour while they did her hair. and that it stayed nice in the car seat. oh, and I love Josh and B in the background where O is sprinkling the flowers. he he.
Lexi is a flower girl this Saturday, I get special seating, right in the front next to the brides mom and grandma. talk about VIP he he.
I always say I just want little boys but then I see a picture of a little girl dressed up for a wedding and my heart aches for a little girl. Olivia looks absolutely beautiful and I can’t believe she sat still for so long to get her hair done. I can’t even do that and I’m 24!
Looks like O was all smiles all day- awesome! She looks great and did great! Also, it’s fun to see all those college friends- where was the wedding?
Beautiful flower girl! And congrats to Benjamin!!!
So cute!
Oh my goodness. What a beautiful happy looking little girl. She is amazing. Thank you for sharing your joy with us through these pictures.
