I had a fantastic Mother’s Day. Really, probably the best ever.
I didn’t cook a single meal or wash a single dish.
I got my bike fixed. We got a basket for Lucy. Then we went for a family bike ride.
(Josh had Levi in a bike seat in the front and Benjamin in a seat in the back. I had Olivia in the back and Lucy in the front. A family of six on two bikes.)
Afterwards, I spent some serious time laying in the grass relaxing.
(My legs were tired. I had run a half-marathon the day before. 1:57:17.)
My sweet husband did everything humanly possible to make my day perfect.
It’s hard to get over a day like that.
I keep trying to convince myself I need to tackle my Monday to-do list one load of laundry at a time. But…
I watched two episodes of 30 Rock instead.
I can’t even motivate myself to organize pictures for Meet-and-Greet Monday.
What was your Mother’s Day like? Anyone else struggling today?
haha yeah um… my kids were wonderful yesterday…which means this afternoon they’ve been horrible…and i’m tired already. 🙁

I feel like I must be asking a stupid question but – who’s Lucy?
I thought you guys had a bike trailer? Is it hard to balance a bike with a kid on the back and a dog on the front? I’m not so sure how well I’d do with that. lol.
btw you’re awesome. and you deserved yesterday!

Lucy is our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel! I posted pictures of her here: http://www.thenaturalmommy.com/2010/03/16/its-mountain-time/ I know, she deserves a post of her own, as does my first half-marathon… I’m slacking. 🙂
oh. just found this old blog of yours. Looks like this day after mother’s day slump is normal for you.

We did have a trailer, but never used it. It was a gift from my mom and we ended up trading it in for a jogging stroller. Josh does not like the idea of the trailer. We’ve had many … ahem… discussions on this. He thinks two bike seats is safer. Sigh.
Yeah, steering was harder with a dog on the handle bars. She only jumped out once. After that, we tied her in with the leash. Hehe. My mom and I used to go on bike rides and she’d take her maltese in a basket. That’s where I got the idea. Well, that and the Wizard of Oz…
bwahahaha! awesome.
Yeah, my kids didn’t nap all weekend. So they thought they didn’t have to today either. Correcting them has been an exhausting process.
My mother’s day wasn’t any different from any other day. I’ve never even heard or seen a front bike seat for kids. I think I’d be terrified to ride a bike with the kid on the front. Trailers just seem safer to me. Aren’t Cavaliers wonderful? Buster, our Cav, is just about the best companion to our boys we could ask for. You really need to write a post on her. Not many people know about the breed.
I agree with Rachel, I think trailers are safer. I’d like to know why Josh thinks the seats are though. Maybe I’m over looking something major, after all, he’s an engineer.

I just want you all to know that since writing this, laundry has been folded and put away, sorted, washed, put in the dryer, dishes put in dishwasher and washing, and counters wiped. So motivational to tell teh interwebz you’re lazy.
IF you lived in Nashville where 1 or our 2 water treatment plants was flooded and we are to use 1/2 the water, you wouldn’t have to wash dishes or laundry.
Haha! The plus side to being a national disaster area! 🙂
I’m glad your mother’s day was so nice! And I had no idea you could fit two kids on one bike with an adult.
Have to look into that.
My day was great–my youngest went into the church nursery for the first time (they have to be 18 months) and a friend pushed my two kids in the double stroller back up the hill for me to get home.
My husband serves in a demanding capacity for a local church group of single students of our same denomination, so Sundays I am it. All day. He leaves at 6:30 and gets home at 3 to eat lunch and take a nap until dinner.
But we went out for pizza the night before. And went to bed early (woo hoo!)
Thanks for asking! My 1st Mother’s Day was WONDERFUL!!! I was spoiled with gifts, and hubby, baby, and I spent the day together – had breakfast out, walked around a beach town, window shopped at antique stores, visited family, had Starbucks (1/2 price Frapps in the afternoon this week!), got take-out for dinner, and curled up to watch the Amazing Race!
Agreed though… today it was VERY difficult to get motivated… I was so tired! But I ended up getting a few things accomplished… and now I am off to bed… it’s so late! Perhaps THAT is why I am tired!!! 🙂 Glad you had such a nice Mother’s Day as well!
