I got my diapers out of the dryer today and thought to myself, “I should take pictures of my updated stash!” Because, I do believe the last time I blogged about diapers, Bush was still president.
Here they are! In all their glory. And also, love my Couch Flowers. They are Awesome Sauce.
Top left: Mommy’s Touch, Smartipants, homemade flannel wipes.
Middle left: Planetwise medium wetbag, random folded one-size microfiber insert, Hemp Babies insert, Flip stay-dry inserts, Flip organic cotton inserts.
Bottom left corner: Planetwise diaper pail liner.
Hanging to dry: Flip snap one-size covers times six. I have seven altogether, I believe.
Posing with the Couch Flowers.
Those are not all my diapers. They are just the most popular.
We used to use Mommy’s Touch, double stuffed, with Benjamin at night. But he complained, so we had to find something more comfortable.
[For nighttimes with our three-year-old] We currently use a stay-dry Flip insert on top of a microfiber insert inside a Flip cover. He likes those better.
The Smartipants is my go-to pocket diaper when all our Flip covers are dirty. I prefer to use mostly Flip inserts and covers, because piling up inserts is easier than stuffing a pocket. At least I don’t have to shake the insert out of the Smartipants when it’s dirty. It comes out on its own in the wash.
The flannel wipes used to be a receiving blanket. I cut it up and sewed the rectangles together in two’s. Nice, thick, soft, cheap. And zoo animals to boot! I keep them fresh and warm in my Prince Lionheart Ultimate Wipes Warmer:
(The Chinese prefold diaper hiding back there is for wiping excess moisture off baby bums. In order for cloth wipes to stay warm and clean well, they have to be pretty wet!)
The Planetwise medium wet bag goes in my purse. It’s how I store dirty diapers when I’m out and about. It used to be leakproof, but that was a year or so ago. Now it gets damp. I deal with it, though, because I’ve become used to urine and the way it seems to get all over everything I own.
The Hemp Babies flat is the most absorbent thing we own. We use it under a stay-dry Flip insert and inside a Flip cover for nighttimes on our almost two-year-old. This combination refuses to leak, even on a baby who wets the bed in Pampers.
The biggest stacks on our couch are the Flip stay-dry and organic cotton inserts. The stay-dry are trimmer and more comfortable for baby with its suede upper layer which wicks moisture away from sensitive tushies. The organic cotton are bulkier and don’t hide the wetness, but are also much more absorbent. And organic.
(Um, yes. That is where I store bouncy seats and baby gyms. And I’m okay with that.)
So that’s my stash! Do I have any Stash Twins out there? What do you use?
Thanks for posting your reviews! I have five artist BumGenius and two Econobums so far, but I am planning most of my stash to be Flips. I’m waiting for sales, though, because my baby isn’t due until the end of July.
We have cloth wipes and the Price Lionheart wipes warmer (and a baby girl due any day now!). I was curious as to your thoughts on the warmer. Also, do you take your wipes out of the washer (ie, damp) and put them in the warmer or dry them first? Are you using the same wipes solution as you posted long ago? Do you do that fold technique so that they pop up like disposable wipes? How did the kids react when you don’t have access to the warmed wipes (like when you are on the go) and how do you store them in your wipes travel pouch (wet, with solution, or dry, water added right before using?)? Thanks!
You have so many good questions here! I answered them all and put them in a post! It’s scheduled to go up Thursday, I think? If you have any more questions, send them my way! (Makes for easy blogging! Lol)
Are the artist series as cute in real life as I think they would be? Not that you’ve had a chance to try them on, huh. I keep waiting for Flip to get cool covers like that… or at least a nice red one! 🙂
I don’t have any pictures right now, but here’s my current stash:
12 medium cotton prefolds
6 GroVia soakers
1 organic flip insert
2 Thirties Duo covers
4 GroVia shells (covers)
1 flip cover
2 Snappis
2 pail liners (planet wise and grovia)
4 wetbags (swaddlebees and fuzzibunz)
I also have 14 microfiber inserts that have been stripped and are sitting here waiting for me to decide what to do with them, plus 12 Baby Kanga pocket dipes and 2 FuzziBunz pocket dipes. I miss the ease of the pocket dipes, but switching to all cotton has really helped with the rashes. I stuffed a BK with a prefold today and that worked fine but I’m still concerned about the microfleece. Decisions!
Oh and I have assorted cotton wipes. I use a spray bottle to get her bum wet and wipe with a dry wipe – works fine for us. I have to change her on the floor though. She kicks and screams too much, and I have to put my legs over her body to get the diaper off and on.
Mine are all fuzzi bunz with pocket inserts. I cut up some knit fabric my mom had with pinking shears for wipes. I just wet them at the sink when I need them and use disposable wipes while I’m out.
